The Group Mentor Coaching Practicum at the Elias Institute of Professional Coaching is a transformative 10-week program that equips experienced coaches with the skills to mentor others effectively. Through live virtual sessions, individual coaching, and breakout sessions, participants will deepen their understanding of the ICF Mentor Coaching Competencies. This practicum not only enhances coaching proficiency but also fosters a culture of continuous professional development and ethical practice.

Prerequisite, completion of:

PCC Mentor Coach (PCC Marker Training)

ACC Mentor Coach (ACC BARS Training)

Participants will examine the purpose, ethics, and responsibilities of the mentor coach while developing the ability to observe coaching conversations, evaluate coaching performance using the ICF Core Competencies and the applicable ICF competency evaluation tools (ACC BARS or PCC Markers), provide objective competency-based feedback, facilitate reflective learning, and support a coach’s continued professional development.

Training Structure Overview

Comprehensive Curriculum

Our program spans 10 weeks, offering 22 hours of immersive learning through live virtual demonstration, discussions, and breakout group activities.

Interactive Live Sessions

Engage in 20 hours of group mentor coaching sessions, complemented by 2 -1 hour pre and post individual coaching sessions to reinforce learning outcomes.

Flexible Learning Options

Meet the required hours of synchronous  learning, including readings, reflective exercises, and practice assignments.

Learning Outcomes

Understanding ICF Competencies

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the six ICF Mentor Coaching Competencies and how to apply them effectively within mentoring relationships.

Evaluating Coaching Conversations

Participants will learn to assess coaching conversations using ICF Core Competencies and evaluation tools to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

Delivering Competency-Based Feedback

Participants will develop the ability to provide objective feedback that encourages reflective learning and enhances coaching effectiveness.

Facilitating Mentor Coaching Sessions

Participants will be equipped to lead both individual and group mentor coaching sessions that promote development and psychological safety.

Applying Ethical Principles

Participants will apply ethical standards and professional guidelines throughout the mentoring process, aligning with ICF expectations.

Supporting Continuous Growth

Participants will support ongoing professional development through reflective practice and competency growth evaluation.

Fostering Reflective Practice

Participants will enhance their ability to facilitate reflective learning activities that contribute to continuous professional growth.

Promoting Psychological Safety

Participants will learn techniques to create a safe and supportive environment for mentor coaching, fostering open communication and trust.

Assessment Methods

Evaluation Techniques

Participants will be assessed through a variety of methods, including instructor observation of live coaching sessions, competency-based feedback exercises, and active participation in group discussions. Reflective learning activities and practical application of ICF Mentor Coaching Competencies will also be integral to the evaluation process. These assessments are designed to ensure that participants can effectively apply their learning in real-world mentoring scenarios.

Eligibility Requirements

Must hold a PCC or renewed ACC and have completed either the PCC Markers 40 training program or the ACC BARS 40 hour training program depending which cohort you are registering.

  • Experiential Course Work
  • Practice: Providing feedback, Laser Coaching, Mentor Coaching both Group & Individual Coaching
  • Approximately 2.5 Hours Per Week
  • Two-hour live virtual session once a week, weekly journal log.
